Mikki came to
Kalnovitch from Murmansk Samoyeds, possessing some very lovely dogs in
his pedigree (particularly CH Skrownek Anachkov, whom Mum has always
admired). The day we brought Mikki home from a show in October of
1993 we were absolutely besotted with him.
Mikki
was a particularly challenging dog to handle. From barking to
pushing his handler over the ring ropes (he loved doing that to me), we
never knew just which way Mik was going to go. Being super
intelligent and possessing such a fantastic nature, he was a fabulous
dog to live with...really quite the big bear he was, although mostly he
was attached to 'Big Bro Jamey' whom he loved going 'boy racing' with!
Mikki, being the gentle big bear he was, was particularly soppy and he
just loved his smooches and cuddles. He was the first to line up
after a hard day.
A bit of a romeo
indeed, Mikki bonded quite strongly with Konnie and the pair of them
were inseparable. They were very sweet to watch together.
Mikki retired
with many group awards to his credit and quite frankly he was pleased
(but most proud) to gracefully exit the showring whilst his daughter,
Sasha, took the breed by storm!
Far too soon in
2000, we all said a very tearful farewell to Mikki, the Samoyed
with the most proudest soul to have walked this earth. The
day before we put him down, I took Mikki and Konnie to the park just as
I often would. Konnie ran around like the loop she was....Mikki
just sat with me and comforted me while I bawled...the day Mikki went
the skies cried and a little bit of us went with him.
