It was Janet Ainscow (Sunmist
Samoyeds, Australia) who effectively launched Kaitlyn’s show career,
placing her RBISS from the Puppy class at the 2001 DSC Open Show
(approximately 41 entries). Way back then, Janet predicted Kaitlyn
“showed much promise and should develop into an excellent specimen”.
Janet could not have spoken any closer to the truth as Kaitlyn went on
to captivate the attention of judges and fellow Samoyed enthusiasts
around the world. Although not particularly heavily shown throughout
her show career, Kaitlyn amassed an extraordinary number of group and in
show awards - reflecting her consistency. At last count, Kaitlyn
had been awarded just over 50 challenges, two of which were speciality
tickets.
Ray Taylor (Naduska Samoyeds, UK)
awarded Kaitlyn BISS from the junior class, pointing out that Kaitlyn
had an “exquisite head with a pleasing Samoyed smile.” Mr Taylor
confirmed what many other judges have commented on, that Kaitlyn simply
“stood out”. This was especially true when Kaitlyn was matched up with
me – we had a simply incomparable partnership. Kaitlyn was known to
bite other handlers on the bum (particularly mum!), run in front of them
to trip them up etc, but never for me.
Kaitlyn whelped a lovely litter for
us in 2004, sired by Cody (CH Silvertips A Wicked Fantasy). Her
daughter, Nessie, is very much like her and combines the very best of
Kaitlyn and Cody's qualities. We are indeed very glad that we took
up Sandra Stewart's offer of a puppy to show, as Kaitlyn has been a
fabulous girl to show, and a lovely Samoyed to have around.
Kaitlyn has been retired from the
showring for some time now, she now spends her days mountain climbing,
running (who would ever have thought) and generally enjoying her well
earned retirement along with Czaah and her owners Shelagh and Mike. She
is affectionately known as "Princess Kat", and she so deserves that
title. Congratulations Kaitlyn.
What the Specialists had to say..
Janet
Ainscow, Sunmist Samoyeds (Aust):
9 1/2 months, this girl caught my eye from the moment she walked into
the ring. Well balanced, excellent reach of neck, very good tail
carriage, moves very well with strong rear drive but tended to toe in
slightly in front, a fault I forgave on the day. Very well angulated.
Pleasant head and good mouth. Good straight front and correct feet.
Showing much promise and should develop into an excellent specimen.
2001 Dominion Samoyed Club (Inc) Open Show - Best Bitch and Reserve in
Show.
Ray
Taylor, Naduska Samoyeds (UK):
18mth old bitch. Showed really well for her handler and possessed
excellent ring presence. Eye placement, ear set and good pigmentation
contributed to an exquisite head with pleasing feminine Samoyed smile.
Well boned with good muscle tone. Great well proportioned body. Parallel
front and nice feet. Beautifull harsh correct coat, good tail carriage.
This bitch stood out amongst the bitches and I was pleased to award her
the bitch cc and BIS
April 2002 Dominion Samoyed Club (Inc) Championship Show - Best Bitch
and Best in Show.
Marilyn
Gittelson, Sansaska Samoyeds (USA)
Beautiful head, coat, moved better than the second place.
October 2002 Dominion Samoyed Club (Inc) Championship Show - Best
Intermediate in Show.
Ken
Warburton (UK)
Lovely, small petite bitch that so reminded me of one I admire in the
UK. Typical feminine with a lovely smile. In good coat, which had been
well groomed. Showed all the time I was looking at the other class
entries and was on top of her form. A beautiful specimen of the breed.
