Anoushka
was mum's wee girl and we were all absolutely besotted with her. She
was the foundation of Kalnovitch Samoyeds, it was with her that our love
affair with the Samoyed breed began. We did indeed exhibit Anoushka, but
her love for the showring was not developing at such a rapid speed as
ours, and it became clear that even though by pure luck we had picked
such a super type as herself from her litter, that she was not very keen
on the whole 'show thing'! And so, Anoushka was mated to a friend's dog
and in turn she produced our lovely Konnie. The rest of Anoushka's days,
quite frankly, were spent in front of the heater, and in general,
bossing everyone about - and stealing food!
Anoushka didn't
like going outside in the rain, and would come to the beach only to sit
and watch, or get in the water mid-leg length - "I don't care if you're
drowning, I'm not coming in to rescue you!" However, Anoushka loved,
food, barking, the heater, Michelle's bed, food, barking, the heater,
and sometimes, going for walks - if she had to. Even then, she
would only truly appreciate going for a walk if it meant going to the
shop, which meant she would get a lolly!
From Anoushka
came the super-performing BIS CH Kalnovitch Nova Katya, as well as her
sister from the repeat mating, Kalnovitch Janenka.
Unfortunately,
Anoushka was taken from us much too soon; at 12 and a half years young
Anoushka was a stroke victim and her most recent stroke left her in
pain. In June of 2003 she was put to sleep in the arms of her Mum and
went very peacefully. Anoushka had so many bizarre habits and
rituals that it was hard to adjust to life without her "Anoushka-isms"
and she is so very much missed...
The following is
what mum wrote to announce Anoushka's passing: "No more rummaging in my
daughter's bag after school/college/work, no more checking visitors for
goodies, no more insane mindless barking mid evening and early morning,
no more shredding of wallpaper, toilet paper, carpet, no more mad rush
to the toilet for the empty cardboard rolls, no more raids on the fridge
to help herself, no more ripping up of the kitchen floor, no more
barking as the indicators in the car are used, no more snuffling under
the doors to wake us up at some insane hour, no more snoring through the
night, no more looks of glee as she snaffles herself a goodie and runs
for it. No more Anoushka, aka Snowraker Bianca, matriarch of Kalnovitch
kennels, put to sleep in her mothers arms 17 June 2003. All the goodies
over the Rainbow Bridge are hers for the taking...... Run Free"
